보통명사와 of 가 붙은 국가명은 앞에 정관사 the를 붙인다고 합니다.(왜인지는 모르겠어요. 다들 그러니...)
the United States of America, 라던가 the Republic Of Korea 라던가요.
우리나라가 해외에 공표한 정식명칭은 the Republic Of Korea입니다.
각종 외교문서에도 the Republic Of Korea라고 표기하고 있어요.
하지만 우리는 그냥 Korea만 써도 상관없죠.
